An epic, yet endlessly gloomy atmosphere, vast soundscapes, soaring melodies

WEEPING KIN is the brainchild of musician Tom Ott from Amberg, Germany, a project born from a desire to craft deeply melancholic, melodic doom metal that lingers in sorrow.
Drawing inspiration from bands like My Dying Bride, Mourning Beloveth, and Swallow the Sun, WEEPING KIN weaves together crushing yet melodic dual guitars, slow and thunderous rhythms, and a blend of mournful and hauntingly melodic vocals. The music embraces long, intricate song structures, shifting tempos, and unconventional time signatures—elements that add a progressive edge to the sound.

Founded in 2021, the debut album Gnawing arrived in December 2022, delivering an hour of immersive, emotionally charged doom. The lyrics, often written in a stream-of-consciousness style, are deeply personal and layered with meaning. One year later, the sophomore album Waterbound expanded on that foundation—an ambitious concept album that pushes further in both weight and melody, refining the signature sound.

In 2025, WEEPING KIN took a more direct yet equally evocative approach with the Epoch of Mourning EP. Clocking in at 30 minutes, the release offers a more immediate experience while retaining the band’s signature melancholic depth. Accompanying the EP, the artsy and atmospheric music video for "A Place in My Dreams" visually captures the emotional weight of the song.
